March 22, 2022 – Bangkok – Beauty, and design are inherent in the Italian’s DNA. The pandemic has provoked questions about creativity, production, sustainability, and these ultimately impact design and beauty. Traditionally, a design is about enhancing and enriching. With disruption and advancing technology in artificial intelligence and deep tech, the role and responsibility of design are called into question. On the horizon, designers are now tasked to consider the future relationships between design, fabrication, supply chain, and the impact on the environment.

Italian Design Week 2022 in Thailand (IDD22) addresses these design issues under the theme “RE-GENERATION. DESIGN AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE’’. In preparation for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Lorenzo Galanti, and the Director of the Italian Trade Agency in Bangkok, Mr. Giuseppe Lamacchia, will host an online event on ‘Made in Italy’ design, with its world-renowned craftsmanship, high quality, innovative, cutting-edge technological solutions and trendsetting style.

“Design is a living process. It is constantly evolving as we develop. It looks into the future and is capable of anticipating global changes. It can constantly re-generate. Design is a strategic tool that the new generation has at their disposal to rethink the world of tomorrow. This year’s theme of the Salone del Mobile in Milan is ‘Designing for Our Future Selves / Progettare per i Nostri Domani.’ We aim for a world founded on the constructive and structural encounter of creativity, inclusiveness, green economy, and accessible digital technologies” said H.E. Lorenzo Galanti, the Ambassador of Italy.

Giuseppe Lamacchia, the Director of the Italian Trade Agency in Bangkok, “This year’s theme, Re-generation, has two meanings. The first is aimed at the young people in the industrial and post-pandemic rebirth. The second idea implies reactivating innovative practices and materials. It is essential to develop the design from the circular economy perspective.”

The event, organised in collaboration with partners such as Euro Creations, Motif Art of Living and Crystal Design Center, will allow speakers from different backgrounds to share their views on those topics and to present the answers provided by the latest trends in Italian interior and furniture design.

The Italian Design Week continues at Crystal Design Center (CDC) from 21 March 2022 to 27 March 2022, showcasing sustainable design products from Italy. To see the events schedule, please visit the  https://www.facebook.com/crystaldesigncenter.
